In the 1930s, Kumomaru, a samurai from Japan, sets out on a trip to Europe and becomes entangled in a plan to recover the famous Japanese sword, Kusanagi. Whilst in Europe, he forges a close relationship with Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso, all the while working to thwart Major General Kamishima and his Nazi followers' designs to take control of China.
