The first volume, titled "Winter's Tale," transports readers to England during the late 19th century. Here, we meet Grace King, the daughter of a declining Marquis and the mistress of Count Arthur Roland. After her untimely and mysterious death, her sons Linus and Lawrence are placed in the custody of their father, Earl Roland, who has a sick wife, Anna, and other children. Despite his father's care, Linus is deeply suspicious of the Roland family's involvement in his mother's death and embarks on a solitary investigation.
The second volume, "Spring's Paean," introduces readers to Rachel Brennan, who is hired by the Roland family as the governess for their children. Over time, the children begin to warm up to Rachel, except for the second son, William. Will Rachel's efforts be enough to win over William as well? The subsequent volumes in the series continue the story, taking readers on a journey through the seasons and the twists and turns of the family's secrets.
