Ushiro wanders the streets seeking out those whose hope has waned, enticing them to end their lives and allowing him to feed on their souls. Despite his seemingly heartless approach, Ushiro is not without compassion and grants the person's last wish in return. However, his plan is disrupted when a spirited teenager catches him in the act and works to motivate others to persevere through their struggles.
As destiny would have it, the two unlikely allies come across a range of individuals dealing with their own traumatic pasts, warped realities, and dismal outlooks, both committed to offering aid however they can.
