As a result of sustaining grave wounds, the protagonist collapses in a forest and is eventually discovered and aided by a young woman named Eruruu. With no recollection of his identity, the individual also suffers from a mask that cannot be detached from his visage. Upon arriving at a nearby village, the leader offers him garments and christens him Hakuoro. The protagonist becomes an integral part of the community, even welcomed into Eruruu's clan, composed of herself, her sibling Aruruu, and their matriarch Tuskuruu, who is the leader of the village.
