The Japanese National Police Agency has established a specialized Motorcycle Counter-Terrorism team in response to the increasing incidence of crime and terrorism targeting Japanese citizens. The team, which includes former convicts with histories of minor offenses, as well as former Yakuza members and leaders, has been formally authorized by government officials to combat armed criminals and terrorists.
