In the mountains, Gin and Jinrou form an unbeatable team. Nevertheless, Gin concludes that they have to head to the capital and join the Shinsengumi. Regrettably, the formidable people they encounter in the city are too challenging for them. Jinrou detects a monstrous odor emanating from certain members of the Shinsengumi and watches their exceptional talents. Unfortunately, Gin passes away, leaving Jinrou resolute to enhance his skills and step into his comrade's shoes as part of the Shinsengumi.
