In spite of Gu Ning's efforts, she failed to prevent a murder she had foreseen as her warnings were disregarded by the victim. This prompted her to alert the authorities beforehand, but this move caused the police to question her credibility. Initially doubtful of her abilities, Captain Zhan Ming became interested in her when she showed him how she could obtain details of a crime by simply analyzing the victim's eyes. He was amazed to see her recreate the crime scene instantaneously with a brush and ink, and even more so when she sat on a chair from the scene and could visualize the murder unfold from the opposite end.
