Soichi Mawatori faced a lonely youth due to the scars on his face and the stigma of being the illegitimate son of his father. His mother was his only source of true affection, but her untimely passing left him utterly alone. Despite the odds stacked against him, Soichi persevered and achieved his lifelong dream of becoming an astronaut.
During a lunar mission, Soichi has a rare encounter with a strange humanoid with feminine features and an ability to communicate with humans. Though the creature's origin remains a mystery, Soichi sees a piece of himself in it and endows it with the name Io. As they learn more about each other, Soichi and Io forge a special bond built on honesty and understanding.
