In the year 199X A.D., Kushiro, Hokkaido is under attack by three Dragonites with devastating power. The creatures are wreaking havoc on the city, and their emergence from the holy seal has also freed the evil Jashin Drago. This vile being and Empress Zara intend to conquer the world using their army of biomechanical beasts, as they assume that the holy warrior who had trapped Drago in the seal has perished. Even the Japan Self-Defense Forces are insufficient to stop the Dragonites' destructive capabilities, and among the panicked citizens is a young and timid 16-year-old boy named Ken Taiga. Little do the attackers know, Ken is actually descended from the Liger warrior who sealed away Drago two centuries ago. In a sudden outburst of anger, Ken's unique Liger birthmark appears, and he thrusts his hand skyward, shouting the henshin command "LIGER!" The command imbues Ken with demonic biomechanical armor, and transforms him into Jushin Liger- ready to confront the evil horde of the Dragonite.
