Leah arrives back in her hometown after five long years, hoping for a warm reception. However, her arrival takes an unexpected turn as she discovers her father's lifeless body hanging in their home. Despite the police ruling it a suicide, Leah can't shake off her growing suspicions about the circumstances surrounding her father's death. As she starts to investigate, she realizes that her father's manuscript, Battlegrounds, which tells a story of violence, is half missing. Unfortunately, Leah's inquiries are met with resistance from the locals, who are determined to keep her from uncovering the truth, no matter the cost.
