The narrative follows Ratix Farrence, a youthful Fellpool residing in the town of Clatos on planet Roak. A member of the Clatos Brigade, Ratix, and his pal Dorn Marto protect the town against robbers, but when a perilous ailment threatens to petrify Cool citizens, their mission changes. Ratix and his comrades embark on a journey to Mt. Metox to obtain the fabled Metox herb. However, they come across two peculiar individuals, a man with blue hair and a woman with blonde hair. The couple discloses that the Earth Federation is battling with the Resonians, who dispatched the ailment to Roak. Why would they attack an unevolved planet like Roak? Ratix and his companions find themselves in a mystery that needs solving.
